The reason they fail because they don’t have a strategy. Affiliate Marketing isn’t easy. People don’t want to buy something from a stranger until your article is ranking on the first page of Google.
When I started blogging, I knew nothing about Affiliate Marketing. I just randomly wrote an article, inserted my affiliate links & expected sales to come.
But guess what, I didn’t make any sale. Even nobody clicked on my affiliate links.
It was demotivating but I didn’t give up and continued to educate myself. Then, I practically applied these strategies on my blog and I slowly saw some sales.
I went from nothing to making over $3700 in my first 6 months of blogging. I know, it is not too much, but the happiness it gave me was priceless. Right now, my revenue is increasing monthly wise.
Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I have worked so hard to achieve it. This includes working 12 hrs/day and taking various online courses, webinars etc.
Now, it doesn’t mean that you too have to work like me. Absolutely, No.
Because I will be sharing all my experience with you that will somehow give you an idea on how to do Affiliate Marketing the right way.

WHAT IS AFFILIATE MARKETING?
Affiliate marketing is a marketing strategy where a person promotes a product or service for another company. To promote their stuff, the person receives an affiliate link from the said company.
If someone purchases the product through that affiliate link, the first person gets a commission for it, So, it’s a win-win situation for both the person and the company because you are getting a commission and the company is getting a sale.
Still confused, let’s take an example.
You are a Digital Marketing blogger, and you wrote a post about a web host. But before writing, you signed up for their affiliate program and received a web host affiliate link.
After including that link on your post, you are getting a good amount of clicks. Now one person just bought that web host which you suggested through your affiliate link.
Guess what, you received $50 as a commission for referring a member. So it is a win-win situation as you received $50 from the sale and the company got a new member who paid for that web host.

Let me ask you, how does it feel when you wake up in the morning and check your emails only to find out that you made $$$ while you were asleep.

2. NO NEED TO CREATE YOUR OWN PRODUCT
Even though creating your own product is a good way to earn money, but it takes a lot of effort to create your own stuff.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE STARTING AFFILIATE MARKETING
Affiliate marketing doesn’t mean writing a post and sticking it up with affiliate links. Even if you place them 3, 4 or even 10 times on your content, it’s not going to convert.
In short, you won’t see any results.
So, instead of following this tactic, you need to first concentrate on building a proper foundation to kick-off your affiliate sales.

It’s time to say bye-bye to your free platforms and instead invest in a self-hosted blog. A self-hosted blog is a great way to appear as a professional.
I mean, nobody want to buy any product from websites that have URLs such as “sitename.blogspot.com” or “sitename.wix.com”.
So, make sure you invest some money on a web host that will host your website.

2. WRITE HELPFUL CONTENT FOR YOUR READERS
Your content will decide whether your audience wants to buy your affiliate product or not. If your content isn’t helpful, then there is a less chance for conversion.
Therefore, make sure to write such contents that are helpful to your audience and provide valuable information. If your content satisfies their need, they are more likely to buy your affiliate products.
3. PROMOTION STRATEGY
Promotion is a critical part of Affiliate marketing. Think about it, what if people don’t know about your blog or your content, then how do they buy from you?
That’s when promotion plays a crucial role because it makes sure that your content is getting an adequate amount of traffic.
You can either promote your content on social platforms or directly rank them on the search engine.
I will suggest that you promote your content on Pinterest because it is a sure-shot way to drive tons of Pinterest traffic to your blog within a few months.
Also, you need to find out where your target audience resides and that’s where you need to promote your content.
It can be found on Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, Forums, Quora etc.
4. LEARN SEO
You should at least learn basic SEO that can be applied while writing your content.
Though, SEO is a vast topic in itself. However, make sure you know On-Page SEO strategies, Off-Page SEO & backlink building which will surely help you to rank your articles.
If it ranks on the first page, then congrats, you will be driving highly targeted traffic to your affiliate contents which will definitely yield a result.
5. ADD A DISCLAIMER
The last thing you should never forget is to add a disclaimer before adding any affiliate links which make everything legal.
According to FTC, you need to inform your readers that they are being compensated for anything they click on.

If you want to make money from affiliate marketing, then you need to target the right kind of audience who are more likely to buy from you.
It’s better to get a targeted traffic of 100 visitors per day who takes action rather than getting 1000 untargeted visitors who don’t take any action.
With that in mind, make sure you implement below points in your content writing strategy to see a good affiliate conversion.
1) TARGETING RIGHT KEYWORD
Ranking article on Google is the best thing you can do to make affiliate sales. To do this, it is necessary that you choose low competition keywords with decent to high search volume.
Make sure that your target those keywords that include buying keywords such as Best, Top, Cheap, Review, Coupon etc because people usually use such terms when they want to buy something.
For example, “Best headphones under $50” or “Cheap Gopro Alternatives” can be a good example.
So, if you are able to rank such articles on the first page of Google, then its money on auto-pilot.

2) INCLUDE CALL-TO-ACTION
It is necessary to tell your readers what they need to do after reading your content.
Whether it is buying or signing up, you need to clearly mention it in your content so that the readers will take the necessary action.
For example, you must have seen numerous YouTube videos where the creator always asks you to subscribe to their channel. Here, the subscription is the Call-to-action.
That is why never forget to add a Call-To-Action in the end or at the start of your post.
Most people on the internet tend to be fast readers. They like to scan contents so that they don’t waste much of their time.
So in this case, if your article language sounds boring, then they might hit the back button and you would lose a precious customer who might be looking to buy your product.
That is why you need to opt for a different writing style through which you can connect with your target audience.
It can be humor wise or storytelling.
You see, we feel more connected to people who are like us. If there is a person who is explaining something with humor and storytelling.
Then you will be more interested in listening to him rather than a person who is just explaining it straightforward.
So always implement something in your content writing that makes you unique. If that uniqueness can connect well with your audience, then you will surely see sales quite easily.
Also, make sure to use the words “YOU” & “I” in your content which makes it more personalized & your audience will get a feeling that you are talking to them.

There are many similar articles like yours on the internet and I am pretty sure your audience might be reading the same stuff from different sources as well.
Now think about it, why will they get attracted to your content if they have read the same stuff?
This is why you need to make sure that your article is unique which will keep your readers engaged.
For this, you can include infographics, Youtube video, add different research or personal experiences to make it more legit.
6) PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY CONTENT
This is one of the most important things you need to consider while writing your content. You need to provide a high-value content that your audience will love to read.
Normally, if you check anything on Google, the first-page search result articles are usually more than 1000 – 1500 words.
If you write a well-detailed content with a proper On-Page SEO, then your chances for ranking on the first page is more.
What this means is, your article will automatically drive targeted traffic from the search engine and thus you are most likely to make sales.
I have repeated this multiple times, but still, “always write content with the intention to rank it on the first page of Google”.
Let me give you an example:
There is an article which I wrote about “how to receive payment from Amazon as a Non-US citizen”. In this article, I targeted “Payoneer” service. Here is the Google search result page.
Now, currently I don’t promote this article, but still, it is converting well. Right now, I have 17 unpaid conversions which are around $595.
There is another article of mine which is ranking on the first page for the keyword “Tubebuddy Review”. Though it doesn’t have a high search volume, still, it is giving me sales on autopilot.
So, these are all the strategies you must implement to see better conversions. If you start paying attention to all these details, then I am sure you will be making more bucks than usual.
HOW TO FIND AFFILIATE PROGRAMS FOR YOUR NICHE?
Many bloggers have a hard time finding the right kind of niche related affiliate programs for their blog. Even, I too faced the same problem during my early days.
However, with time, I came to know some genuine ways that you can use to dig out profitable affiliate programs for your blog. Here are 3 methods:
1. JOIN AFFILIATE NETWORKS
This is the first way through which you can find affiliate programs that are niche based.
Affiliate networks act as a bridge between the publisher (you) and actual programs. You just need to join them and then find products related to your niche. (Affiliate networks are mentioned below)
2. GOOGLE IT
This is the simplest method which you can do to find affiliate programs based on your niche.
All you need to do is simply type “Affiliate programs for Gardening” (Replace Gardening with your niche name) & search it.
Google will then show all the affiliate programs related to your niche. Also, if you know any company that is related to your niche, then you can simply type “Company name affiliate program”.
This will show the affiliate program of that company if they have any.
3. STALK BLOGGERS ON YOUR NICHE
Hold on, here stalk word is not meant in a negative way. What I am trying to say, is that there are many successful bloggers in your niche who are making thousands of bucks from Affiliate marketing.
You only need to visit their blog and check out what are the programs they are promoting through their content.
This will give you a clear idea about which programs to join and what are their potentials.

TYPES OF POST THAT MAKES AFFILIATE SALES
After you are approved for affiliate programs, it’s time to write blog post’s to promote your affiliate products.
But simply writing a post will not give you much sales. Instead, you need to concentrate on certain types of post that will give you the most results.

Anyways, following are 3 types of post that do well with affiliate marketing. Targeting your product by using any one of them will surely give you better results.
However, I will suggest writing all the 3 of them for each of your products for a better result.
1. REVIEW POST
People only land on this post if they are in a buying state which means they are ready to buy that product but needs more confirmation.
In this post, all you need to do is write a review about the product. The review must be genuine and it shouldn’t sound like as if you are trying to sell something.
You need to portray both the good and the bad side of the target product. And this can only be possible if you have already used that product.
So make sure you write this post only if you are a genuine user of that affiliate product. Rest all depends on your content writing strategy and the ability to convince your audience to take the desired action.

List-post are those posts which mentions all the products that help in satisfying a particular need of the user.
For example, “10 Best WordPress plugins you must install for your blog” is a perfect example of a list post.
In this post, basically, you are suggesting 10 WordPress plugins that are important for blogging. If any of them has an affiliate program, you can surely insert your affiliate links into this.
Such types of post are known for multiple conversions because you can target more than one product in a single post
Also, whenever you write this post, always mentions all the important features & benefits that the product can give to your audience. In this way, you will have higher chances for conversion.
3. COMPARISON POST
In this post, you basically compare two products which do the same work.
For example, a comparison post between Bluehost & Siteground or a comparison post between Namecheap & Godaddy will be the perfect example of a comparison post.
This type of post is especially useful to target those people who are having confusion between products. Such type of people is really into a buying state, but couldn’t decide which one to choose.
So, if you write an article showing the comparison between different products, then you can definitely convert those people into your customer.
4. HOW TO GUIDES
How to guides are basically those guides which come in the form of tutorials. Such types of post mainly show the process of doing something.
For example, a guide that shows how to remove acne from the face. In this post, basically, there will be a procedure which shows the removal of the acne from the face.
Now, you might be thinking how it can target affiliate products? You see in the above example, if I suggest a cream that can easily remove acne. Then, I have a pretty solid chance to sell that cream.
So, in this example, I am targeting a problem (acne removal) and then giving a solution in the form of an affiliate product (cream). Thus, a pretty solid reason to make sales. Isn’t it?
